Dr Emma Kennedy

Curator for: International, Student support

Emma Kennedy specialises in student engagement, inclusive pedagogy and digital identity.

With a background in English Literature, Emma has been teaching in the humanities for several years. She particularly enjoys exploring innovative ways to teach text-based subjects such as English and History. As a postgraduate teacher at the University of York Emma was awarded an Excellence in Teaching and Supervision award for ‘Outstanding Feedback’.

As Education Adviser (Academic Practice), Emma currently supports the work of the ADEPT Taught Programme, convening ADP7116 (our first module, Learning and Teaching in Higher Education), and ADP7117 (our second module, Learning and Teaching in the Discipline). She has delivered workshops on feedback, social media and digital identity, accessibility and disability, international student needs and critical pedagogy.  She is also currently Editor of the ADEPT Website and runs the Educational Development Team Twitter account.

She is passionate about student engagement and inclusive teaching, and would love to hear examples of how students from underrepresented groups have been supported at university – from either a student or teacher perspective. If you’d like to add your voice to the website, contact Emma through the links on this page.
